thinking through design
Good ideas don't always arrive in their clearest form.
I work with people who have something important to communicate—helping them find the structure, story, and form that make complex thinking clear and accessible.
Sometimes that means finding clarity in a complex body of ideas or information. Sometimes it means developing the thinking further, discovering the path through complexity, or shaping how others will encounter and experience it.
I work in words and images, bringing strategic thinking, writing, and hands-on design together to create something clear, useful, and beautiful.
how the work takes shape
Get close to the thinking.
I begin by looking for patterns and connections: listening, reading, asking questions, and thinking both broadly and deeply. I work through the ideas and language to understand what matters most, what's still unresolved, and critically, what someone encountering the work needs to understand.
Discover the form.
Design is both my paintbox and my toolset for thinking. I move fluidly between words and images, arranging, refining, testing, and exploring. A sentence might reveal an idea that needs more thought. A visual structure might uncover a hidden connection. A sequence might expose a missing step. The act of making becomes another round of thinking.
Carry it through.
I don't stop at ideas or recommendations. I carry the thinking into the finished work—shaping the experience, refining the details, and making something people can understand, engage with, and use.
Beauty isn’t something I add at the end. It’s part of how clarity happens.
It helps people access the thinking, stay with it, and get clear on what matters.
what we might make together
The work can take many forms. Sometimes the destination is clear; sometimes finding the right form is part of the work. Either way, I bring strategic thinking, writing, and design together to create something that makes a difference.
1
Presentations & Visual Storytelling
Keynotes, executive presentations, and important ideas shaped into compelling narratives: from developing the story and refining the words to designing visuals and thoughtful sequences, I help make complex thinking clear, engaging, and memorable.
2
Offsites, Workshops, & Learning Experiences
I shape the content and participant experience for leadership offsites, workshops, and other gatherings—developing the learning journey, activities, exercises, and visual materials that turn complex thinking into meaningful participation. When the program is already in place, I can also create a cohesive visual design system for the event, from presentations and participant materials to signage and wayfinding.
3
Visual Frameworks & Information Design
Diagrams, models, and visual systems that reveal relationships and make complicated ideas easier to understand. I work with both language and imagery to find the structure that makes the thinking visible, coherent, and useful.
4
Synthesis, Reports, & Publications
Turning research, conversations, workshop outcomes, and complex information into something meaningful: I find the patterns, shape the narrative, write and edit the content, and design publications and reports that help people see what matters—and what comes next.
5
Boutique Websites
Distinctive websites for individuals and small organizations with something meaningful to communicate. I bring messaging, writing, information architecture, and visual design together to create a cohesive experience that feels authentic, approachable, and beautifully considered.
